Help for UK Hauliers

Aldermore is supporting the Road Haulage Association and
FairFuelsUK in asking the Government to
give
hard-pressed UK hauliers a much needed helping hand.
Specifically, we want the government to address the following
three Ps:
Postpone - planned increases in diesel fuel
duty
Parity - create greater equality between fuel
prices in the UK and the rest of Europe
Promote - the importance of the haulage industry
to the British economy
The UK haulage industry, which accounts for more than 50,000
transport firms and approximately 425,000 vehicles, will come under
increasing pressure as diesel prices rise to nearly 150p per litre
(£6.82 per gallon) from 1st August.
We would like the Chancellor to postpone the proposed 3p increase
in duty on diesel in August and look for ways to create greater
parity between UK and European fuel costs. We also want to promote
the importance of the haulage industry to the UK economy.
FairFuelUK (www.fairfueluk.com) is running a campaign led
by TV presenter Quentin Willson and has enlisted the support of
approximately 40 MPs calling for an amendment to scrap the 3p
rise in fuel duty planned for 1st August. Ask your MP to support this amendment.
